About

Nance Lokos
(b.1971, Leeds, England)

Nance Lokos, a British-born artist, moved to Hong Kong in 2016. This move marked the beginning of a transformational period where, amidst personal challenges, she redirected her creative energy toward developing her distinctive abstract style.

Creativity has always been central to Nance's life. She studied Art at Leeds College of Art and Design and earned a degree in Creative Advertising from Bournemouth University, leading to a career in advertising, graphic design, and product design. While she explored art during this time, her experiences in Hong Kong ignited a deeper purpose. It was there she discovered a powerful message to share, dedicating herself fully to her abstract painting practice.

As a self-taught artist, Nance has honed a visual language of bold, curved lines, hard edges, and diminishing circles that create illusions of depth and movement. Her work gives visual form to the human condition, its chaos, resilience, and capacity for transformation, through compelling abstract narratives.

Nance's work embodies hope and optimism, inviting viewers to reflect on their own journey and how far they have come - to see adversity as an opportunity for transformation. By finding beauty in the complexity of life, her art communicates an uplifting message for positive change.
